My Florida beach fence job turned me against untreated lumber
I took a contract to build a privacy fence right on the sand last month. The salt spray and sun there destroy regular wood faster than anything I've seen. Now I tell all my clients near water to only use treated timber or expect a rebuild soon. That trip changed my whole approach to coastal projects.

Notice how we often pick materials that can't handle the real world? That fence story shows a pattern I see all the time. Like @bettyt40's net saving her stuff, the right protection matters everywhere. People use weak paint on sunny walls or cheap tools in damp basements. Then they wonder why things break down so fast. Why do we keep choosing what's easy over what actually lasts? It's like we forget that harsh conditions demand tough solutions.
