Vent: My coworker at the farmers market in Portland dumped my whole kombucha batch

I was showing my setup to my friend Mark last Saturday, and he just grabbed a jar, said 'this smells off,' and poured all 3 gallons down the drain. He didn't even ask first. I'd been brewing it for 8 days and the scoby was perfect. Has anyone else had someone ruin a project because they thought they knew better?

Okay, "smells off" is actually a good sign for kombucha! That's the fermentation doing its thing. What a bummer he didn't just ask you first.

Lol tell me about it. I once convinced my partner my sourdough starter was a science experiment gone wrong. He nearly threw out my whole "jar of weird smells" before I caught him.

Wait he almost threw it out for real? That's a crime against good bread. My starter is like my weird pet, I'd be so mad. You gotta hide the good stuff from people who don't get it.
