Can we talk about the time I cut a plank backwards on a big LVP job

Happened last Thursday on a 1500 sq ft install in a new build. I was rushing to finish the master bedroom and didn't double check my starter wall. Ended up locking in about 20 feet of boards with the pattern facing the wrong wall. My helper just looked at me and said, 'boss, that's not right.' Had to pull up everything past the first row and start over, cost me nearly two hours. Anyone have a quick check they do to avoid this kind of dumb mistake?

Claire_Sullivan has a point about the box, but what about the room's light? I always lay a few loose pieces where the main window is to see the pattern in daylight. That wrong wall you faced might have looked fine in the garage light but totally wrong with the sun hitting it. Makes you wonder if rushing in a new build with all the same bulb light tricks your eyes.

Honestly doubt it's that big of a deal... like how different can light bulbs and the sun really be. Claire_Sullivan's box staring idea sounds like overkill too. People get so worked up over tiny details that nobody will ever notice once the furniture is in. Just pick a wall and stick with it, the world won't end.

Been there, done that. Your helper's face must have been priceless. Quick check? Maybe just stare at the box for a solid minute before you start?
