Hot take: I thought the whole 'use a heat gun to soften vinyl plank for tight cuts' thing was a gimmick until a job in Tampa forced me to try it on some rigid core stuff.

I was fitting around a complex fireplace and a 30-second blast on the back of the plank let me make a perfect scribe without any chipping. What other weird tricks have you pulled out for impossible cuts?

Totally agree, that heat gun trick is a lifesaver. Had to cut some crazy angles on a bathroom remodel last month. Used a cheap oscillating tool with a fine tooth blade, went real slow. Got a clean cut on some brittle tile planks that would have shattered otherwise.

Cheap oscillating tools can be so hit or miss. Did you have to do anything special to keep the blade from walking on you when you started the cut? I've had some that just skate across the surface and chip the edge before they bite.

Just start it on the edge and let it walk into the cut.
