Tbh, I'm confused by the dislike for carpet tiles among floor layers
Honestly, most crews I meet trash talk carpet tiles as a cheap option. Tbh, I used a good brand in a hospital lobby and it looked sharp for five years. Ngl, swapping out damaged pieces is so much easier than patching sheet carpet. It just seems smart for spots that get a lot of foot traffic.

Yeah, @felixfisher, we used them in a school and the easy swaps saved us a ton of hassle later.

Worked on a big office retrofit where the client insisted on carpet tiles. The installers moaned the whole time, calling it a hack job. Truth is, they hate it because it's fast and cuts down on billable hours compared to sheet goods. But you're right, for high traffic areas the repair logic is unbeatable. You save a ton on future upkeep and avoid redoing entire sections. They're stuck in old ways, but the product has gotten a lot better.
