Warning: Don't buy cheap self-leveling underlayment

I grabbed a $20 bag from a random brand at a discount store. Big mistake. It turned out lumpy and never set right. Had to rip up 200 square feet of new LVP. Wasted $400 on materials and two full days. Spend the extra $10 for a known brand like Henry or Mapei. Anyone else get burned by off-brand floor patch?

@riverreed three pours? I'd have thrown the trowel through the window after the first one.

Buddy tried cheap stuff once, ended up pouring it three times.

Cheap underlayment is just asking for trouble. @ross.felix, you're right, that first pour wouldve made me lose it too. Had a buddy try the same thing with a no-name bag, ended up chiseling it out of his living room floor. The extra ten bucks for Mapei or Henry buys you way less headache and a flat floor that actually sets up right. Lumpy patch is the worst, it messes up every plank you lay on top of it. Sometimes you gotta pay a little more to save your own time and sanity.
