Just read that a single rose bush can produce over 50,000 blooms in its lifetime

Saw that stat in a grower's newsletter and it blew my mind, makes all the pruning feel more worthwhile. Anyone else come across a surprising fact like that?

That part about it making the pruning feel more worthwhile really hit home... I felt the same way when I learned a mature oak tree drops something like 10,000 acorns in a good year. All that raking suddenly seemed less pointless, like I was just part of the cycle. It's wild how those little facts can change how you see a routine chore. Makes you feel like you're helping something bigger along.

That oak tree fact from @haydeng47 is a good one. Does it ever feel weird knowing you're basically cleaning up a tree's failed attempts to make more trees? I wonder if the rose bush is the same, just throwing out blooms hoping a few actually turn into hips.

Guess the plants are just out here playing the numbers game. My rose bush is basically a slot machine pulling the lever 50,000 times, and I'm the guy sweeping up all the losing tickets.
