The way we order roses has totally changed since I opened my shop

Honestly, three years ago when I first started in Portland, I'd call my main supplier every Monday to place my rose order for the week, usually around 150 stems. Last month, I noticed I was just clicking a button on their app for next-day delivery, barely thinking about it. Ngl, last week I got a push notification on my phone saying my usual white Avalanches were running low and asked if I wanted to auto-reorder. I didn't even talk to a person. Does anyone else miss the old phone calls and building that rapport, or is the convenience just too good to pass up now?

I used to hate the apps but they save so much time.

Time saved isn't always the best measure though (you know what I mean?). That quick tap on an app cuts out the small talk that actually builds a real connection. The trade-off feels pretty hollow in the long run.

But what do we lose when we stop talking to people altogether?
