I used to think a quick tap with the chisel was fine for cleaning risers, but a guy from the Toledo plant showed me the right way last week.

Is there some kind of secret chisel code I missed? It's just cleaning a riser, not building a rocket. If the old way got the job done without breaking anything, calling it wrong seems a bit much.

Heard about a buddy who skipped the Toledo method on a big job, thought like tyler_wilson that his old way was fine. Cost him three grand in callbacks for cracked tile in six months. Sometimes the "only" way is just the one that doesn't blow up later.
