A client told me my project updates were too long and detailed.

They said they just wanted a quick 'on track' or 'blocked' status, not a full page of notes. I switched to sending three bullet points max, which felt weird at first. Has anyone else had to simplify their communication style for clients?

Three bullet points max" feels like you're hiding the real work that goes into being on track.

It's like those clean kitchen pics that hide the messy cooking process.

Read an article about this exact thing last week. The writer argued that reducing complex work to three bullet points creates a false sense of simplicity. It makes the daily grind of staying focused and organized seem easy, when it's really a constant effort. That effort includes dealing with distractions, managing your energy, and constantly adjusting your plan. Leaving all that out of the summary does a disservice to how hard the work actually is.
