I lost $500 on a 'freelance success' course that was all hype

I bought an online course last month that promised to show me how to land high-paying clients fast. The sales page looked great, but the videos were just basic stuff I already knew from free blogs. The 'exclusive' Facebook group was just people complaining about not getting work. I feel like I threw that money straight in the trash. What are some real ways you've learned to get better clients without wasting cash?

Just ask past clients for referrals, it's free and works better than any course.
