Question about turning down a big project for a smaller, steady one
I chose a $300 monthly retainer over a single $2,500 job because the client seemed flaky, and now I have predictable income. Does anyone else pick stability over the occasional big payday?

Yeah, picking the steady retainer is the smart move every time... I had a client who promised a huge one-off payment but kept moving the goalposts. Took the smaller regular work instead and never looked back. That predictable income just lets you sleep better at night, you know? The big jobs are nice but they don't pay the bills if they fall through.

Exactly, that peace of mind is priceless.

Had a buddy who turned down a flashy sports car gig and took a landscaping contract instead, no regrets at all.
