Spent $400 on a 'client finder' tool that was just a fancy email scraper

I bought a subscription to a service that promised to send me qualified leads for my freelance design work. It just pulled random emails from LinkedIn and sent out spammy messages that got my account flagged. What's a real way to find good clients that doesn't feel like a scam?

That $400 lesson is cheaper than most business courses. Miles946 might be onto something with referrals, but you still need a client to refer you first.

What, you mean like just straight up asking them? I tried that once, @miles946, and the silence was so loud I could hear it. It turns out you actually have to do a good job first, which was my bad.
