Took me 4 years to realize I was underpricing my rush jobs

Had a client call me frantic at 9pm needing a 2000 word blog post by 6am, and I quoted my usual rate without thinking it through. Next morning I saw another freelancer online saying they charge double for any project under 8 hours notice and it hit me I had been leaving money on the table for years. What do you folks add on for a tight deadline?

Respectfully disagree - good clients understand when you raise rates for last minute work.

Missing the fact you just lost a good client too.

Raising rates for last-minute work just weeds out the people who don't value your time...
