Got stuck in a rainstorm at the park and my phone case saved the day

I was at Central Park last month when a sudden downpour hit, and my phone slipped right out of my pocket into a puddle... I have a Spigen Tough Armor case on it, and after drying it off, the phone worked perfectly fine. Has anyone else had a gadget saved by a case you almost didn't buy?

Wow, I read a whole article about how cases like @casey16's old one can be the difference between a scare and a huge bill.

My old Otterbox Defender took a full dunk in a coffee mug once. The case was so bulky I almost left it at home that day. Phone was totally fine after I rinsed the sticky coffee out with water.

You mentioning the coffee mug dunk is wild! I always thought those bulky cases were overkill until my phone slipped out of my pocket into a puddle last winter. It was just a shallow curb water thing, but it killed my phone. Now I get it. That extra bulk feels worth it when it actually saves you from a total loss.
