My grandma's old photo albums from the 80s are full of people at parties, but my phone from last year is just pictures of my cat and food.

Man, that's just how it is now. Back then you needed a camera and film, so you only took pictures of big events. Now my phone is always in my hand, so I snap a pic of my coffee or my dog sleeping on the couch. It's not about parties anymore, it's about tiny everyday stuff. My whole camera roll is just random moments that felt nice at the time.

Oh man, my buddy's whole album is just his cat's weird naps.

Does that shift in what we photograph change how we remember our own lives? It seems like we're making a record of quiet, personal joy instead of big group events. I wonder if my own kids will look back at my phone and see a calmer, more inward kind of happiness.
