My grandma's 'wasteful' habit of saving every jar is actually smarter than my zero-waste apps
I keep seeing posts about how my generation is better at being green because we use apps to track our carbon footprint. But my grandma in Omaha has reused the same glass jars for pickles and storing nails for 40 years. She never bought a single special container, just washed what she had. Those apps need a phone that gets replaced every few years, which seems worse. Are we just making simple things too complicated now?

Watched my friend spend a whole weekend setting up a fancy compost tracker on his phone. He was so proud of the data, but the app kept crashing. Meanwhile, his mom just tosses her scraps in an old ice cream tub on the back porch and dumps it in the garden. The tub's from like 2008. Makes you wonder if we're solving problems that were never really there.

Honestly, I used to be all about those fancy apps too. But @the_simon, your post made me realize we overcomplicate simple things. Sometimes the old way just works better.
