A farmer at the county fair told me he'd never plant a GMO seed again after his corn got wiped out

He said 'I trusted the science, but the science didn't trust the weather,' which stuck with me because it wasn't about the tech itself, but the promise it made. Has anyone else heard a story that changed how you see the risk side of engineered crops?

Honestly, that story makes me wonder about the guys selling the seeds. Like, do they ever have to pay the farmer back if the crop fails? Seems like all the risk is on one side.

Wait, they DON'T cover crop failure? That's insane. The farmer carries all the debt if the weather goes bad. That setup feels totally unfair.

Used to assume those contracts were more balanced. Hearing the farmer's side shows how much risk they really carry. Changes how you see the whole deal.
