Heard a guide at the Grand Canyon talk about the Vishnu Schist being almost 2 billion years old

I was on a trip there last fall and the guide said that rock layer is some of the oldest exposed on the continent. It made me think about how much time that really is, way before any dinosaurs. I've only ever collected surface rocks around my town. Has anyone here actually seen or held a piece of the Vishnu Schist up close?

Yeah rocks seemed boring to me too until you actually see something like that in person. Changes your whole view.

It's funny how that happens with a lot of stuff. You write something off until you see the right example that clicks. Makes you wonder what else we're all missing.
