Finding my old glass jacks during a shop cleanup brought back memories

I used to make do with just those and a punty iron. Now I have a whole rack of tools, but those old ones still feel special, you know?

Totally. I once spent a whole summer trying to make perfect marbles with just a basic pipe and jacks. You really learn how to work with what you've got instead of what you wish you had. That forced simplicity sticks with you.

Last year I found my old jacks covered in dust in my dad's shed. Honestly, I looked at them and just saw some rusty tools. @jessica540 talked about forced simplicity, but sometimes you just had worse stuff. Tbh, we make too big a deal out of the struggle. Those old jacks are special because of the memories, not because they were better. Ngl, having a full rack now lets me do way more without all the extra work.

Those early tools really keep the memory of learning, right? Your hands probably still feel the heft of that punty iron from back then. Trying to shape a bubble with only jacks sounds tough. What was the biggest thing you made before you had more tools? Having just a few things makes you get creative in ways full racks don't. Kind of makes you think about what we leave behind...
