My go-to stargazing hideout is a Nevada park most people skip
I found this state park while driving off the main highway last fall. The skies are so dark there, you can spot satellites moving overhead. Go on a weekday to avoid the handful of campers. Bring a folding chair and some snacks, because once the sun sets, you won't want to leave. It's completely free and feels like your own private planetarium.

My cousin dragged me to a similar spot in Arizona last year. I complained the whole drive but shut up once I saw the Milky Way. Now I'm the one planning the trips.

Classic case of getting converted against your will.

Oh please, that drive is always a hassle and the stars just look like tiny lights. You end up cold and swatting bugs for a view that's honestly pretty dull. Now you're wasting time planning more of these boring outings. I don't get the appeal when you can see better photos on your phone. It seems like a lot of effort for something that barely changes.
