How my kid's science fair made me see fish parenting differently
I used to think that in the sea, moms always took care of the young ones. Then my son did his project on seahorses, and we found out the dads carry the eggs. They have a special pouch where the babies grow until they are ready to hatch. I saw a video of a male seahorse giving birth, and it looked really tough. It made me think about how my wife and I split chores at home with our kids. Now I know that some ocean fathers, like clownfish, also guard their eggs fiercely. Learning this fact changed how I view family roles under the water. It's cool to see nature mixing things up just like we do.
