Hot take: Fancy ovens aren't needed for killer cookies

Seriously?! You use an old, uneven oven and still get perfect cookies? That blows my mind because my friend's brand new oven burns everything. I always thought you needed even heat for baking, but you prove that wrong. It's all about knowing your tools, like you said with the hot spots. People get so caught up in gear when skill is what counts. Now I feel dumb for almost buying a fancy oven last week.

Just finished Dexter and I don't get the hate for the ending

That final shot of Dexter as a lumberjack in Oregon always gets me. It's like haydeng47 said, life doesn't wrap up neat... and that ending feels more honest than some fairy tale closure. I guess I relate... my big plan after college was to move cities and start fresh, but I just ended up working a desk job and rewatching old shows. So maybe Dexter's escape to the woods isn't so bad compared to my couch-based adventures... At least he got to use an axe.

Crazy idea: Stop using weird words in your wine notes

@beth_bell's scoff made me try plain terms, and it works.

A SIM swap attack showed me why SMS 2FA is flawed

Totally true what @tessam16 said about the phone company being the weak link. Read a tech article last week that basically said the same thing, that these attacks are way too common now. It's crazy that a support rep can just hand over your number after a few security questions that anyone could find online. The whole system needs a big change because text codes are just not safe anymore. Made me go move everything I could over to an authenticator app instead. Banks really need to stop offering SMS as an option because it tricks people into thinking they're secure.
