My city's new hiring bot turned me down for a job I was perfect for

Last month I applied for a parks department job here in Portland, but their automated system flagged my resume as a bad match. A friend who works there told me the AI looked for specific keywords I didn't have, even though my 10 years of experience were a perfect fit. It feels wrong that a machine can decide who gets a chance without a person even looking. Has anyone else been shut out by an AI screener for a job they were qualified for?

Yeah, you gotta game those systems now. I run my resume through a free keyword scanner before I apply, then just copy the job description right into my skills section. It's stupid, but it works.

Same thing happened to me with a library job. The bot said no because my resume didn't have the exact phrase "community outreach," even though that's basically all I did. It's so frustrating.

Didn't this used to be the future we were all excited for? I mean, I used to think these systems were just about speed and fairness, but hearing stories like yours makes it seem broken. Maybe it's just me, but a person should at least get a look.
