Tbh, I used to think zip ties were the answer for everything until a Cessna 172's flap cable got stuck on one in Tucson last month.

Now I keep a $45 flush cutter in my pocket and actually follow the manual's routing diagrams, so what's your go-to method for keeping wiring bundles tidy without creating a new problem?

Ugh, that's the thing... we're always fixing the last problem so hard we make the next one.

Guy I know from a hiking group once told me he was helping his buddy pack up a small Cessna for a trip. They had this cooler they wanted to bring, but the latch broke. So his buddy pulls out a roll of duct tape and just starts wrapping the whole thing shut. My friend was like, "uh, is that going to hold?" and his buddy just said "it got us here didn't it." They made it the whole 200 miles without the cooler popping open, but honestly, I don't know if I'd trust that with commercial plane pressurization. Something about that adhesive turning gummy at altitude.
