Hot take: I used to drill all my door contacts with a standard bit, but a Milwaukee Shockwave step bit changed the game for me last month.

It was taking me about 15 minutes per steel door frame, but now I'm down to under 5 and the hole is way cleaner. Anyone else have a go-to bit for tough frames?

Oh man, you are not kidding. I fought with a standard bit on a solid core door frame last year and it was a nightmare, just chewing through bits and my patience. I finally grabbed a step bit on a whim and it was like night and day. The cut is so smooth and it just powers through without walking all over the place. I won't go back to a regular bit for metal frames now.

Yeah step bits are a total game changer for that kind of work. I burned through so many regular bits before I tried one, it's just not worth the fight. That smooth cut makes all the difference.
