inHot take: I used to drill all my door contacts with a standard bit, but a Milwaukee Shockwave step bit changed the game for me last month.
Oh man, you are not kidding. I fought with a standard bit on a solid core door frame last year and it was a nightmare, just chewing through bits and my patience. I finally grabbed a step bit on a whim and it was like night and day. The cut is so smooth and it just powers through without walking all over the place. I won't go back to a regular bit for metal frames now.

inI just realized the '8 glasses of water a day' thing is a myth after tracking my intake for a week.
I get what you mean about tracking intake, but my experience was the opposite. When I tried that, I felt way better hitting the full eight glasses because my workouts and coffee left me actually thirsty. Olivia_harris19, coffee can dehydrate you a bit, so I count it against my total. For me, aiming for eight is a good reminder to drink more than I naturally would.

inWorking on a big Reno job last spring changed my mind about using a hawk and trowel for taping.
Stuck with my box too, same finish and saved my wrist.

inTried that 'fast set' vinyl plank adhesive on a basement job last week and it was a total mess
Sounds like a classic case of bad batch or wrong conditions. Remember that "fast grab" time is for ideal situations, meaning a perfectly level, clean, and warm subfloor. Basements are rarely ideal, often being cold and sometimes a bit damp. That will wreck the cure time for any adhesive. I always tell people to treat those advertised times as a best case scenario, not a promise. You probably did nothing wrong, the product just didn't meet the needs of that specific job.

inMy brother-in-law just described the new 'premium' chicken sandwich as 'a sad, lukewarm sponge'
Nah, I still send stuff back... sometimes you just gotta call them out on the lazy stuff.
