Trying to figure out the watch order for the Fate series

I mean, I knew it was a mess, but I didn't think it would take me like two whole hours just to decide where to start. I kept seeing different flowcharts and people arguing about starting with Zero or Unlimited Blade Works. I finally just went with the 2006 Fate/stay night anime, even though everyone says it's not great. Honestly, after all that, I'm still not sure I made the right call. Has anyone else actually found a watch order that makes sense without needing a PhD in Type-Moon lore?

Ever think about just reading the original visual novel instead? The anime adaptations all cut stuff or change the order, so you're always getting a broken version of the story. It's a big time commitment, but at least it's the full thing the way it was meant to be seen. All the watch order fights are basically about picking the best of several incomplete options.

Yeah that whole watch order debate is a trap. Spent way too long on it myself. Honestly just pick one and go, they're all kinda messy.
