City park elm got pruned with stub cuts everywhere
I saw the crew finish up and every branch had a couple inches left on it. It just looks wrong to me, but maybe there's a reason. Do some methods call for leaving stubs like that?

Tbh, seeing those stub cuts on the elm tree makes me mad. Same thing happened to the maples on my street last spring, they left like three-inch stubs on every branch. It looked so hacked up and ugly for months. Honestly, I read that leaving stubs like that can let disease get into the tree easier. I tried asking the workers about it and they just said it was faster to cut that way. Now all the trees have these weird knobs where branches should be.

Emailed the parks department with photos of the hacked branches. They actually showed up and fixed them, which was a surprise.

I can't believe they just said it was faster to cut stubs. @lee72, at least your parks department actually listened.
