That time I had to talk a guy down from a 40-foot oak because he thought his cat was stuck up there

After I climbed up and found no cat, just a raccoon staring at me, the guy yelled 'that's not my cat' and I had to explain raccoons can climb down on their own while trying not to laugh has anyone else had a customer mistake a raccoon for their pet?

I mean, worst case scenario the raccoon just hangs out up there for a while, right? Feels like maybe a little too much adrenaline for a situation that would sort itself out.

Hang on, raccoons can do some real damage if they feel trapped. I've seen them tear through roofing vents and rip siding off houses when they're trying to get out. Letting it "sort itself out" could turn into a much bigger headache if it decides to start nesting or ripping things up to make an exit.

Has he ever dealt with a raccoon before? Tbh, she's probably already figured out how to get down by herself, she's just judging everyone from up there.
