Saw my domain authority jump from 12 to 38 in 3 months, but here's the catch

I switched up my whole strategy back in March after watching a tutorial from Brian Dean at Backlinko. Instead of chasing 50 low quality blog comments a day, I focused on getting 3 solid placements per week on niche sites. But I got hit with a manual penalty last Tuesday from Google because 2 of those sites were flagged as PBNs. Has anyone else had to rebuild after a penalty like that and recover their rankings?

Yeah exactly, "win the battle lose the war" sums it up perfectly. I did something similar with a project a few years back. I pushed hard to finish a big milestone early and it looked great on paper, but I cut so many corners that the next phase was a nightmare. The client was happy for about a week then everything fell apart. Ended up spending way more time fixing the shortcuts than I saved. Lesson learned the hard way, sometimes slow and steady really is the better play.
