Had a kid come in for a simple fade that turned into a 90-minute color correction.
His dad tried a box dye at home and it went patchy orange, so I spent an hour just evening it out before I could even start the cut. Anyone else had a simple appointment blow up because of a home hair experiment?

My cousin let her boyfriend bleach her hair once and it came out in literal chunks. I had to basically give her a pixie cut to save it, and she cried the whole time. I still get nervous when I see a box of bleach in someone's cart at the store.

Come on, let's not act like home dye jobs are always a disaster. People are trying to save money, and sometimes it works out fine. I've seen plenty of decent box dye results that just needed a quick trim, not a full rescue mission. It's not fair to assume every DIY attempt ends in a salon emergency. Sometimes a patchy orange is just a learning step, not a crime.

My sister tried to go blonde from black with a box kit last year. It took three salon visits and over six hundred dollars to fix the banding and breakage. The real cost isn't the box price, it's the risk of what happens when the chemistry goes wrong on your specific hair type. A professional can see that coming.
