My husband and I used to have a strict 'no phones' rule during our weekly show night.

Honestly, we'd turn them off and put them in a drawer like it was some sacred ritual. That changed last month when we started watching 'The Bear' on Hulu. Ngl, by episode 4 we were both on our phones looking up recipes for beef Wellington and arguing about whether Sydney or Carmy was right. Tbh, the show just makes you so hungry you have to pause and order food. Anyone else completely abandon their viewing rules because a show was just that good?

Oh man YES! We were the same way with our no phones rule for years. But The Bear broke us too. I remember literally googling "how to make braciole" during the Christmas episode while my husband was trying to look up where to buy those expensive tomatoes Syd uses. We ended up ordering Italian takeout halfway through because we couldn't take it anymore. The worst was when we had to rewind a scene because we missed a whole conversation while fighting about whether the quality of olive oil really matters that much. By season 2 we just gave up and started keeping a tablet on the coffee table specifically for looking up recipes mid-episode.

We just keep snacks ready now, the food scenes are impossible to watch hungry.

Honestly that feels like giving up to me. The whole point is to feel that hunger, it makes the food look even better. If you snack through it you're just numbing the experience. Part of the fun is suffering through it and then making an amazing meal after. Grabbing chips ruins the build up.
