Rant: Took me three tries to figure out why my snake plant was dying
I kept thinking it needed more water, but it was actually getting too much light from a south window I didn't think mattered. Moved it to a north facing shelf and it perked up in 2 weeks. Anyone else have a plant that just kept tricking you like that?

My friend thought her spider plant was dying and it turned out to be a draft from a weird window crack.

South-facing windows are brutal. That direct afternoon sun cooks everything. Did you check the soil before you moved it? Like did it feel bone dry or was it staying wet too long? Usually snake plants rot from overwatering when people panic about droopy leaves. Bet the combo of too much light and slightly damp soil was stressing it out. Glad it bounced back though, those things are tough once you find the right spot.
