PSA: Check your tack strip before you start...
I was working on a big install in a Tacoma condo last month, putting down a thick berber. I set my knee kicker against the wall and gave it a solid push... and the whole strip just crumbled into dust. It was that old, dry wood they used in the 80s. I had to stop everything, pull up the edge I'd already set, and replace about 20 feet of strip before I could go on. Has anyone else run into this with older buildings?

Honestly, why check it? That just adds an extra step. I've kicked in plenty of strips that looked bad and they held fine.
