I finally gave up on thermal paste spread patterns

Spent years doing the pea method, cross pattern, even the line. Built 50+ machines always following the guides online. Turned out just slapping the cooler on with a blob works exactly the same. Any other techs stop caring about this stuff?

That "pea sized drop in the middle and push the cooler on" line got me. I still can't bring myself to do it though (call me paranoid). I've seen too many dry spots on chips with big heat spreaders to trust just one blob in the center.

Stopped worrying about it after my 10th build or so, just put a pea sized drop in the middle and push the cooler on. Temps are the same every time.

Wait, you've built 10+ PCs and never had one of those horror stories where the pea method goes wrong? @pat_schmidt60, I'm genuinely shocked you got away with that every time - I always overthink the pattern and still end up with a mess.
