I finally stopped chasing big SEO wins and tested something small instead

I spent 3 months last year torn between writing a bunch of pillar posts or just fixing my old meta descriptions. Pillar posts felt like the right move cause everyone says that's where the traffic is. But my site was already getting decent traffic just not converting. So I picked the meta descriptions instead. Updated about 40 of them in a weekend, nothing fancy just made them actually match the content and threw in a clear call to action. Went from a 2% click rate to 4.5% in two weeks. No new posts, no backlinks. Just fixed what I already had. Has anyone else found that boring small stuff worked better than the big projects?

Yeah the "just fix what you have" thing is super underrated. I did something similar with old page titles and saw a bump that felt way too easy compared to writing a whole new guide.

Did you do keyword research on those titles or just make them clearer?

Totally agree, fixing old stuff feels like finding a twenty in a jacket you forgot about.
