My cousin in Denver said my digital art looked too clean
We were looking at my latest piece, a cityscape, and she pointed out how the windows all looked the same. She said, "Real cities have grime and cracks, even the shiny parts." It hit different because I'd spent hours making everything perfect. Has anyone else had a moment where someone's simple comment made you change your whole approach to a piece?

My buddy had a similar thing happen with his car designs, a teacher said they looked like they'd never been driven. He started adding little dents and dust right after.

Honestly @shaneb16, adding dents and dust just to make it look real feels kinda forced to me. I'd rather see a clean design that just has the right shape and wear in the right spots, you know?

Yeah that "forced" feeling is everywhere. I mean, like when a new leather jacket comes with fake scratches already on it, idk it just feels off. Maybe it's just me but real wear happens over time.
