Noticed a huge difference in my client's cystic acne after 6 weeks of switching her to a non-foaming cleanser

She went from having 8 active breakouts to just 1 and the inflammation really calmed down once her barrier wasn't getting stripped twice a day, has anyone else seen this with their oily clients?

Seen it a ton on job sites actually, guys with acne from wearing hard hats and sweating all day. They get the foaming stuff from the drugstore trying to scrub it off and just make it worse. Switch to a non-foaming cleanser and a basic moisturizer with ceramides, and the redness dies down in like a month. Also tell them to stop touching their face near fresh concrete dust, that stuff is basically battery acid for irritated skin. The real trick is keeping that barrier intact so your skin can do its own cleanup.

My friend was dealing with the same thing with her oily skin. She used to scrub with a foaming cleanser twice a day and her face was always red and angry. Her breakouts calmed down a ton after she switched to a milky cleanser and just water in the morning. I saw her last week and she said she went from 6 active spots to maybe one small one. The inflammation part is real, it's like the barrier cream actually has a chance to work now.

6 weeks is a solid timeline, I was a full 8 weeks in before I realized my own face wasn't actually oily, just dehydrated from my stupid foaming cleanser habit. @margaretm23 your friend's story makes me feel less alone in my struggle, I was basically sandblasting my skin into submission twice a day. I switched to a milky cleanser and now my face is so confused that it just peacefully exists instead of throwing a tantrum.
