PSA: A toner-soaked cotton pad on the back of the neck works wonders for jawline breakouts
I had this one client who kept getting these deep, painful bumps right along her jawline. Nothing I tried seemed to help - I swapped her cleanser, changed her moisturizer, even had her cut out dairy for 2 weeks. Then I remembered an old trick from my training days. I started putting a cotton pad soaked in a basic salicylic acid toner on the back of her neck for about 5 minutes before her facial. It sounds random, I know, but that area drains lymph right near the jaw. After 3 sessions she came back with maybe one tiny pimple instead of 5. I tested it on myself during a breakout last month and it cleared up in 4 days. Has anyone else ever used this spot or just me? I'm curious if there's a better liquid to use than just cheap toner.

Hold up, are you really mapping your face to your neck lymph nodes or did you just get lucky with a placebo effect?

Three years back I had a swollen lymph node under my jaw and a cystic pimple right on the same spot on my chin. I started tracking it with a notebook and a basic face map I printed off a blog. After a week I noticed the bump showed up every time I ate a lot of dairy or sugar. It wasn't a perfect match every single time but it was consistent enough that I cut back on cheese and the breakouts dropped by about half. The placebo argument is fair but when you see the same pattern repeat with your own eyes it stops feeling like luck. My advice is to pick one spot, write down what you eat, and see if anything lines up before you write it off.

Jumping in here because YES, @the_margaret, you're ABSOLUTELY right. I started doing face mapping about two years ago and it was a total game changer for me. I had this stubborn breakout on my chin that wouldn't go away no matter what I tried, and after reading about how that area connects to hormones or digestion, I changed up my diet a bit and the spots cleared right up. But honestly, some of it IS probably just placebo or coincidence, because not every pimple maps perfectly to an organ or anything. There's NO way it's 100 percent scientific, and I've had plenty of times where I got a zit in a "stress zone" and I wasn't even stressed that week. Still, I'll take the wins when they happen and I'm not about to stop now.
