Got called out for my 'helpful' posts on the Everett Facebook group, and they were right

Someone messaged me last year and said, 'You give advice like you're the only one who knows anything here.' I was just trying to help with local stuff, like where to get a permit or the best pizza. But I looked back at my posts and saw I was basically talking at people, not with them. I stopped posting my 'answers' for a solid two months and just listened. Now, I ask questions first, like 'Has anyone tried that new taco truck on Broadway?' It changed the whole feel for me. Anyone else get a reality check about how they talk in our local groups?

How do you even start to notice that in yourself? I read something once about how giving advice can be a way to feel in control, and that kinda hit me.

My therapist had me track how often I jumped in with a fix for a week, and seeing the number really opened my eyes.

Yeah, that 'feel in control' bit is the key.
