Am I the only one who remembers when '8 hours of sleep' wasn't some hard rule?

My grandma swore by 6 hours and lived to 94, but now everyone acts like you're broken if you don't hit exactly 8. Where did that number even come from and why does it get treated like law?

Oh man, I feel this! I started sleeping 7 hours on a regular schedule and feel way better than chasing 8, honestly my body just settled into what it actually needed once I stopped stressing about it.

My sister went through this same thing last year. She was so hung up on getting 8 hours that she'd be lying there for an hour waiting to fall asleep after waking up naturally at 6.30. Her doctor told her to just get up when she felt ready and stop fighting it. Now she's down to about 6.5 hours a night but she's more energetic than I've seen her in years. Sometimes our bodies just know better than we do.

Stopped stressing about it" is exactly right. Just listen to your own body.
