Wasted $30 on a loaded burger that was literally all bread
I stopped at a Burger Shack in Phoenix last Tuesday and ordered their new triple bacon something burger. Took one bite and it was like chewing on a dry sponge, barely any meat or toppings for $30 with a drink. The bun was huge and the patty was this tiny thin thing hiding underneath. Anyone else get fooled by those fancy menu pics that look nothing like what you get?

Man I learned this lesson the hard way at a place called Grill King in Austin. They had this "smokehouse double" on the menu that looked like a proper burger but it was basically two paper thin patties on a bun the size of a dinner plate. Best move I ever made was asking the cashier to show me a real one first before ordering. Sometimes they'll let you peek at one coming off the line. Also I started checking Google Maps photos sorted by newest to see what people actually got instead of the promo shots. Did you try calling them to complain or just eat the loss?

That Google Maps trick with newest photos first is gold, saved me from ordering garbage more than a few times. I just eat the loss most of the time cause I hate confrontation but yeah you gotta pick your battles.

Wait are you sure it was the triple bacon something burger? I think their new one is called the "smokehouse triple stack" or something like that, unless they changed the name since I last went. @troyreed mentioned checking Google Maps pics sorted by newest which is smart, I did that for a place in Mesa and found out their "loaded fries" were actually just a handful of fries with cheese sauce dumped on top, nothing like the promo shots. But yeah that bun situation drives me nuts, you pay for a big expensive burger and get a mouthful of bread instead of actual meat. I usually just eat the loss too because complaining feels awkward, but maybe next time I'll try asking to see one first like troyreed suggested.
