I thought those 'cold email' courses were a total waste of money for getting freelance clients.

A friend in Denver made me try his $47 template pack, and I got my first two web design clients from it in a month. Now I'm worried I've been leaving money on the table by ignoring this for years. What's one thing you were totally wrong about that actually works for finding work?

How wrong was I about just asking for referrals? I thought it felt needy and pushy. Then I tried sending a simple email to past clients after a project wrapped up, just asking if they knew anyone else who might need similar help. Got three solid leads from one email. It costs nothing and feels way more natural than cold outreach.

That's a great point. It works because you're not really selling, you're just reminding them you exist right when they're happiest with your work. Timing it right after a project is key.

Costs nothing and feels natural" from @quinn968 really changed my mind on this.
