Remember when we all climbed on spurs for a simple prune?

Back in the early 2000s, my first boss in Tacoma had us spur up a 40-foot maple for a basic crown clean. Now, I use a lift for anything over 25 feet if the site allows. The change came around 2015 for me, after seeing too many guys with knee and back issues. Anyone else make that switch, and how did you convince the old-timers it was worth the rental cost?

Bought a $300 'competition-grade' brisket injection marinade kit online, total waste of cash

Saw an ad for this fancy injection kit from some brand I'd never heard of, claimed it was the secret to championship bark and moisture. The stuff smelled like a chemical plant and left this weird, almost metallic aftertaste in the meat. Ruined a perfectly good 16-pound prime brisket I'd been prepping for two days. The bark never set right either, stayed kinda gummy. Should have just stuck with my usual simple brine of beef broth, Worcestershire, and a little brown sugar. Anyone have a go-to injection recipe that's actually worked for them, or is it all just hype?

My sister said my air fryer chicken was too dry last week

She told me I was cooking it at 400 for 20 minutes straight, which was way too long. I started doing 380 for 12 minutes, flipping halfway, and it comes out perfect now. Anyone have a good timing for thicker pork chops?

PSA: I just hit 500 unread texts from my parents and it's a real problem

I was cleaning out my phone last night and the number hit me. Five hundred unread texts, all from my mom and dad over the last six months. It's not that I don't love them, but it's a constant stream of forwarded chain emails, warnings about things they saw on TV, and 'check out this link' messages that go nowhere. I'm 32 and trying to run my own business in Chicago, and this digital clutter feels like a physical weight. My dad will send me three articles in a row about the stock market crashing, and my mom sends recipes I'll never make. They think they're helping and staying connected, but it just makes me want to shut down and ignore my phone completely. It's this huge gap where their idea of communication is volume and mine is about actual, you know, talking. Has anyone else found a way to set a boundary here without starting a huge fight?

Shoutout to my old point and shoot camera from 2010

I used to carry that thing everywhere for photos, but after trying my friend's new phone camera last week, the difference is crazy. The phone just does everything automatically and the pictures look way better in low light. Has anyone else held onto an old gadget way longer than they should have?

I used to think all my section views needed to be on the same sheet as the main plan

An old timer at a firm I worked for in Austin told me my drawings were too cluttered and it was making the builders call us with dumb questions. He said, 'Kid, a section is a story, give it its own page.' I started putting detailed sections on separate sheets about six months ago. Now my main sheets are cleaner, and the detail sheets have room for clear notes and dimensions. Has anyone else moved to this method and seen fewer RFIs?
