PSA: My team almost wrecked a 2,000-year-old mosaic floor in Turkey last month

My cousin worked on a dig in Pompeii and someone nearly backed a truck into a wall fresco. The panic is real.

My gallery in Portland just got a submission that was clearly AI, and it's forcing a rule change I never wanted to make.

It's a shame how often new tech makes us add extra steps just to prove we're human. We're seeing it everywhere now, from online forms to job applications. The need for constant proof of authenticity is starting to feel like its own kind of cage.

My kombucha got so fizzy after six weeks it nearly launched into space, lmao.

Holy cow, six weeks is an eternity for kombucha! I start getting nervous after two. That's just begging for it to turn into vinegar or, you know, a sticky geyser all over your kitchen. I once forgot a batch for a month and it was so sour it made my face hurt. You must have the patience of a saint, or maybe just a really sturdy ceiling.

Stalled by a two-month bearing wait on my last job

Back in 2022, we had a hydraulic pump die on a job in Denver. The replacement was stuck in shipping for six weeks. So we got a local machine shop to make a basic copy from our old unit's specs. It wasn't perfect, but it let us finish the wiring and framing while we waited. Now we always ask suppliers for CAD files of big-ticket items upfront. That way we can send them to a fabricator in a pinch.

DAE notice that teaching newcomers sharpens your own butchery methods?

I always thought teaching was for their benefit, but it turns out I learn just as much.
