Update: Our anime meetups went from snack bags to kitchen experiments
Back in the day, my friends and I would just plop down with bags of chips to watch old anime series. The food on screen was simple, like rice balls or basic bento boxes, and we didn't pay it much mind. Now, with shows highlighting fancy dishes, we actually plan meals around what we see. Last month, we tried making the curry from 'Spy x Family' after a long chat about how food shows character bonds. It turned out okay, but the talk about why anime food looks so good was the real fun. These days, our group chats are full of recipe links and pics of our attempts. It's a small change, but it makes our anime time feel more like a shared hobby. I miss the easy old days, but cooking together adds a new layer to our discussions.
